When it started in the latter part of the 70s, there was a lot of criticism and skepticism about the funding for space exploration and voyaging across the realms of space. They questioned the need and purpose of such expeditions that required mammoth expenditure. Then it was felt that space was better left alone as it was good not to interfere with nature. But the explorers felt different and wanted to use it for the benefit of mankind and today after all the explorations, finally mankind has vastly benefited with these explorations.
