Rising temperatures will lead to a slight thaw for many parts of the UK although travel in some places remains hazardous due to ice.

Over the next few day’s, temperatures across the UK will rise to BBC above freezing, however they will fall back below freezing by night. With a slight thawing of the snow and ice during daylight hours and a refreeze at night, travel conditions will remain difficult.

In some places in Scotland, the day time high will be 10 degrees higher BBC than experienced yesterday, although temperatures in Glasgow for example are still only expected to reach 2C or 3C.

After the brief rise in temperatures for the rest of the week and into the weekend, the cold will make a return for next week.
