The latest edition of Phoenix, the AGCAS journal, is now available. The June 2016 issue focuses on graduate attributes, with articles outlining the various ways that HE careers and employability services are working with students and employers to raise awareness of the key attributes needed to attain graduate employment.

Engagement with graduate attributes

Despite being widely preached by universities, careers services and students alike, confusion still surrounds the graduate attributes agenda. Whilst some industry experts believe graduate attributes are the key to unlocking graduate individuality and success, others believe that the concept is too vague and could lead to the demise of graduate diversity. By investigating the pros, the cons and the point of graduate attributes for increasing employment this issue offers a comprehensive discourse on where the debate currently stands.

There are themed articles on:

• Defining graduate attributes
• The demise of diversity amongst graduates
• Championing subject area competency
• Employability as a student welfare issue

As well as themed content, there is also the usual mix of non-themed content, including the regular round-up of careers-related research and Careers Anonymous.
