Stack Overflow is a platform where users ask and answer questions in computer programming. As of January 2015, there are more than 3.5 million users, and almost 9 million questions. The website works in a way that lets users earn reputation points as the quality of their answers get voted by other users. Questions are marked with tags, which give indication on the subjects it mentions.

For this Silk the top 14,898 users were analysed - that is all the ones who have a reputation of 5,000 or more. (Data retrieved on January 16, 2015).

If we sum up the reputation of Stack Overflow’s top users by country, and divide it by the number of top users, we get each county’s “average reputation”. Bulgaria has “only” 40 users with a 5,000+ reputation, but their total score makes it the country with the highest average reputation in the world!
