The weather may have caused some hasty, last-minute location changes and a bit of a reshuffle in the line-up, but this year’s ‘Night Air’ sponsored by Corona Extra didn’t disappoint.
The new cliff top location provided a magnificent backdrop for the Royal Marines Recruiting Display Team’s unarmed combat demonstration and the superb Beat Retreat performed by The Band of HM’s Royal Marines Band Collingwood.
The Corona stage featured great music from T-Rextasy, Herbie Armstrong (from Britain’s Got Talent) T-Rextasy Joe Bob Ritter and Blues Brothers International and Heart FM’s ‘Next Big Thing’ talent contest.
As disappointing as it was to lose one of the dusk air displays due to the weather, Friday’s was truly dazzling. The Tigers parachute display team, SWIP Team Twister Duo, Glider FX and O’Brien’s Flying Circus lit up the sky with their memorable displays featuring great pyrotechnics and light effects.
Bournemouth’s seafront hosted street entertainers and the Balloon Glow, relocated to the beach looked magical. The whole programme was brought to a close in fine style by a stunning firework finale at the end of Bournemouth Pier on Saturday night.
Sunday saw a special Royal Navy Gala Concert, in support of the Royal Navy Royal Marines Charity at the De Vere Royal Bath Hotel. The Band of HM’s Royal Marines Collingwood were as superb as ever, giving the Festival a very fine send off.
