A former World War II bunker near Lands End in Cornwall has been put on the market for £425,000.

The reinforced concrete structure in St Levan was built in 1942 as a look-out post and base for military personnel to pass on wireless messages.

After the war it was used as a potato store by a local farmer.

The property was bought three years ago by Liz Strutton who decided to convert it into a family home.

Inside, the bunker looks like an average bungalow.

“There’s no reason to think you’re living underground,” Mrs Strutton said.

Holes have been made in the roof and “sun cubes” fitted to provide light and ventilation.

“We had to make sure it was ventilated, it wasn’t going to let any water in, it was completely liveable-in and it and it served as a home.”
