In a new report published in September 2018, the world’s leading climate scientists made their starkest warning so far: our current actions are not enough for us to meet our target of 1.5C of warming. We need to do more.

So we don’t need to ask whether climate change is happening – or whether humans are causing it. Instead, we need to ask: “what can we do?”

What can you do that will have the biggest impact? Here’s our guide.

  1. Opt for renewable energy - install solar/wind power infrastructure on your property or at least sign up to a provider that does. For example, Tonik Energy has 100% renewable electricity.
  2. Change your shopping habits - shop less, don’t buy stuff you don’t really need; shop locally and seasonal food.
  3. Walk, cycle or use public transport.
  4. Go vegetarian/vegan or at least flexitarian. The meat and milk indistries are one of the main causes for climate change.
  5. Give up flying or fly less often. Just because you can go to Spain every other weekend does not mean you should.
  6. Fewer children is the best way to reduce your contribution to climate change, with almost 60 tonnes of CO2 avoided per year.

With great [technological] power comes great responsibility…
