Blue Cross has 11 adoption centres, three equine centres and four hospitals.

Blue Cross is Britain's pet charity, dedicated to improving the lives of unwanted and needy animals

The adoption centres are dedicated to caring for, rehabilitating and rehoming animals. Last year Blue Cross took in 6,508 dogs, cats and small pets. Many of these were unwanted, some were strays and others were much-loved pets whose owners had sadly died.

Caring for horses is at the heart of Blue Cross’s history and its three equine centres look after more than 100 horses and ponies at any one time.

Its four animal hospitals provide a lifeline for pet owners who cannot afford private vets’ fees and they deal with a range of veterinary procedures, from routine neutering to complex operations. Over 50,000 consultations are carried out each year.

The Blue Cross education programme puts animal welfare at the top of the agenda and the charity is committed to promoting responsible animal care.

Without the tireless efforts of the volunteers who make up the vast majority of the staff and the legion of Blue Cross donors, many animals would not be around today.

Blue Cross is a registered charity and receives no government funding, relying solely on the generosity of animal lovers to help support their vital services.

If the centre is marked by a pin this means they have small animals (rabbits, guinea pigs and small pets) for adoption too.
