Bentley’s first SUV

The Bentayga is Bentley’s first production SUV, and the first of what’s likely to be a new genre of super-luxury, very high performance SUVs.

Designed to appeal to a new demographic of super-rich buyers, prices start at £130,000/$230,000.

The production car follows a design rethink in the wake of the rather mixed reception the EXP 9 F concept received when it was shown at the Geneva Motor Show back in 2012. It measures 5141mm long, 1998mm wide and 1742mm tall, with a 2992mm wheelbase, making it almost identical in size to the most recent Audi Q7, with which the Bentley shares its modular, longitudinal-engined MLB platform.

The exterior design sticks fastidiously to Bentley’s current design language, with a very large, upright front grille flanked by a pair of oval lamps. Interestingly, the car has no front bumper, with the front fenders being one, huge superformed piece of aluminium. The lack of bumper also helps reduce the front overhang, although this still doesn’t quite hide the platform’s origins.

Outstanding from Every Angle

From the 20” Ten-spoke Painted alloy wheels to its panoramic roof, Bentayga Onyx Edition is every inch a Bentley. Available in 11 standard exterior paint colours, you can also choose from a palette of over 100 unique shades. The car’s striking appearance is further enhanced by the Gloss Black lower body work that comes as standard.

There’s no need to rein in your imagination when it comes to the interior. You can choose from a range of five hide colours with a single tone colour split as standard. Or you can pick from a full range of hide colours and four other colour splits when you add the Colour Specification. Dark Fiddleback Eucalyptus veneers are fitted as standard, or you can select one of seven other wood finishes as an option.

Luxury Defined by Technology

Bentayga Onyx Edition’s technology defines the luxury SUV experience for both driver and passengers. Each of the 11 driver assistance features is designed to make driving simpler and safer. These include Park Assist and Top View Camera to make parking easy. Lane Assist, Traffic Assist and Automatic Cruise Control combined with Bentley Safeguard and City Safeguard all work to keep you safe on the road. Blind Spot Assist, Exit Warning and Rear View Camera are all fitted as standard with Reversing Traffic Warning available as an option.

This W12 petrol engine with Variable Displacement is the most technologically advanced 12-cylinder in the world with the best combination of power, torque and efficiency found in any SUV. It delivers 5-90% torque within 1.1 seconds, offering maximum torque at low engine speeds - which creates an effortless driving experience.  The Bentayga’s engine and gearbox are designed to operate in all off-road conditions, including lateral and lognditudianl angles of up to 35°.
