I am an award-winning journalist and online publisher with 20 years experience in digital media, specialising in the migration of traditional print businesses.

At Abacus I run the Audience Development business which delivers platforms and service which help organisations as diverse as Christie’s, Condé Nast, The Law Society and Centaur Media manage and monetise their audiences.

Previously I was Publishing Director for Times Higher Education. Prior to this I ran the online business for TSL Education, the UK’s leading educational publisher.

Before joining TSL I was a main board director CMP Information in a new digital development role designed to provide a strategic overview for the group’s online activities and to champion best practice across the company. I also worked with the publishing teams across the business development of specific products and services.

Before my appointment at CMP, I spent five years as a project director and head of content and production at Abacus E-Media. I specialised in electronic publishing working for clients in the UK and US including Thomson Financial, Wilmington Group, Centaur, Incisive Media and Financial News.

This followed four years at Portsmouth Publishing and Printing where I built up the new media team responsible for The News Online - winner of the New Media Age Award for Consumer Effectiveness and the Press Gazette Best Online Service. During this time he was also appointed assistant editor of The News, the south coast’s top selling daily paper.

I started my career in the regional press on the south coast before editing Early Times, the national children’s newspaper, and then moving into consumer magazines spending five years in IPC’s TV Weeklies division.

I am currently Visiting Fellow in Online Journalism at Trinity and All Saints, University of Leeds.
